Halloween Charity Screening of Dr. Horrible & The Guild Oct 27, 2012
On the Saturday before Halloween, fans of Dr. Horrible turned out to the 5th Annual Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and The Guild Charity Screening whichand featured many special guests that included… Jane Espenson, Brad “Cheeks” Bell, Doug Jones, Ben Edlund, Fran Kranz, Shawna Trpcic, Georges Jeanty, Greg Aronowitz, David Burns and Michael Canaan, among others. Newly added to the lineup of screenings were the web series “Husbands” and the Skyrim Parodies. Thanks to the generous support of the attendees and guests donation was made to Best Friends Animal Society of Los Angeles! We also gathered non-perishable food for the Sova Community Food and Resource Program.
Best Friends Animal Society of Los Angeles is a grassroots effort to place so-called “unadoptable” cats and dogs into good homes, and to “reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs”. They also collaborate with animal rescue groups and city shelters, promoting kindness and care for animals. Best Friends expressed their gratitude to Whedonopolis: “Thank you so much for your amazing and generous gift in support of Best Friends Animal Society of Los Angeles. With this incredible investment we will be able to continue to save the lives of many homeless dogs and cats.” The Sova Community Food and Resource Program is operated by the Jewish Family Service, and dedicates itself to preventing and alleviating hunger and poverty throughout the Los Angeles area through food distribution and supportive services. Attendees and staff alike had a fantastic time scaring up some Halloween Dr. Horrible-ness, while helping others through charity in the spirit of Penny. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone next year, as Whedonopolis will add even more fun!
